What is MITURF?

MITURF is an aggregated marketplace that allows people to find, discover and book sports and recreational spaces fit for a given activity. Viewed as the “Airbnb” or “Open Table” of sporting spaces, MITURF delivers an easy to use platform to expedite how people obtain accessibility and pay for the rental of sporting and recreational spaces.

Sporting spaces that are located in public parks, recreational facilities, schools, stadiums and privately operated establishments are critical community development locations that create vibrant and healthy constituents. MITURF aims to list these sorts of spaces to benefit communities and make it easier for organizers to find a fitting place to engage in a given activity.

MITURF partners with space providers to help achieve efficiencies with handling rental bookings, scheduling, receiving payments, and monetizing unused space.

We help promote the venue online and assist with selling unused or under-utilized spaces. Becoming a Space Partner and listing spaces is completely free and we give Space Partners the wings to self-manage on their own terms such as:

  • Accept/decline inquiries and booking requests
  • Define what activities and events you allow
  • What is offered at the space
  • Set your own pricing and other fees
  • Upload your own space multimedia
  • Set you operating hours for the venue and the spaces you list
  • Define where you’d like payments sent
  • Manage space availability and more!

Our goal is to make MITURF the best platform to help Space Partners realize both existing and new opportunities. We’re committed to continually releasing value-added features to improve the Space Partner experience.

Can a space partner also be a member?

Absolutely! You just need to sign up as a Member and log in!

If you’re a Member and would like to list a space, you also need to sign up and get approval for a Space Partner Account. You must be operating as a registered business venue in your local jurisdiction to be approved as a Space Partner.

Features

WHAT FEATURES ARE AVAILABLE?

As a Space Partner, you’ll have the ability to:

  1. List an Unlimited Number of Spaces: So you can make extra dough renting them out.
  2. Accept/Decline Requests: You’ll be notified when you get a new inquiry and booking request and decide whether to accept or decline the request.
  3. Manage Calendars: View who has a confirmed booking and see the details, view calendar availability,perform a cancellations and even get to perform a time block so the space is seen as unavailable.
  4. Block or Unblock Time: Control when you’re unavailable at a single specific time or block recurring time. You decide.
  5. Manage Spaces: List a new space, take a space offline, or edit the attributes of the space including descriptions, pictures, pricing, terms, operating hours and more.
  6. View Earnings & Set Up Payouts: View earnings made, upcoming payments set up how you want to get paid.

Pricing

HOW MUCH DOES MITURF TAKE?

Becoming a Space Partner and listing spaces is free. To support and keep MITURF alive, we charge Space Partners 10% commision on each booking every time a booking is processed through the MITURF platform.

Inquiries and Bookings

WHAT IS AN INQUIRY?

An inquiry is no-risk method to make a booking. As soon as the venue accepts, you get to decide to book by providing the required payment. First to book claims the space.

Members have the ability to send out multiple inquiries to different venues for the same type of request. It helps with planning events.

WHAT IS A BOOKING REQUEST?

A booking request is a committed way way to book. When a customer submits a booking request, a payment is required upfront. As soon as the space partner accepts, the customer’s payment will be collected and the booking will be confirmed. The space’s calendar will be automatically updated to reflect the booking so there are no double bookings.

WHAT IS A CONFIRMED BOOKING?

A confirmed booking is a request that has been accepted by a venue/space partner and the customer has paid and not cancelled the booking.

Cancellation Policy

What’s the cancellation policy?

If there is a cancellation by a customer, we understand that it gets much more difficult for you to resell a space as the date and time draws closer to the start of a booking. We also understand that last minute cancellations create unneeded stress.

However life gets in the way and cancellations do occur. Our goal is to make things fair.

  • Cancellations made MORE THAN 48 HOURS before a confirmed booking time
    • Customers must cancel more than 48 hours before the start time of the confirmed booking in order to get a full refund for the amount paid for the booking (refund includes any service fees, liability insurance coverage and any supervision fees if they are applicable). Refunds are processed in the same payment method that the original payment was made. As the Space Partner, you won’t get any earnings from this cancelled booking.
    • Example: It’s Saturday morning and a customer books a space at your venue for the following Saturday. The customer pays for the rental, supervision fees, pay for liability insurance and supervision fees. The customer decides to cancel that upcoming Tuesday for some reason. The customer will get a 100% refund and no earning are made.
  • Venue-Driven Cancellations
    • If you, as the space partner, cancels at any point before the confirmed booked time, the customer will get 100% refund of all fees.
  • Cancellations made LESS THAN 48 HOURS before a confirmed rental time
    • These are considered last-minute cancellations which hurt business. You get to keep all feed that were paid as part of the booking. The customer does not qualify for any refunds.

Blocking Time

IS BLOCKING TIME OVER A CONFIRMED BOOKING THE SAME AS INITIATING A CANCELLATION?

Yes!

It is NOT recommended to block time over a customer’s booking. If a time blocking is performed over a customer’s confirmed booking, it will trigger a cancellation of the booking and the cancellation policy will be in effect.

Space Partners are advised to practice reasonable judgement when blocking time over a customer’s booking.

Earnings & Payments

How can I check my earnings?

It’s super simple. Login with your Space Provider account and click on “Earnings” in the navigation bar. It will display a list of earnings that were made, paid and upcoming.

WHEN DO I GET AN EARNINGS PAYMENT?

Earnings are paid out on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. If the Friday lands on a statutory/public holiday and banking institutions are closed, please be patient and payout will be made on the next upcoming banking day. If you would like to request a more frequent payout, please contact us at partnersupport@miturf.com. We’ll figure it out together.

WHERE DO EARNINGS GET DEPOSITED?

Earnings are deposited in the payout method you have set up. Space Partners get to choose whether they would like to be paid out through a Bank Transfer or via PayPal. To see what payment method you have set up, please visit your Account Settings and navigate to “Payout Details.”

Insurance Coverage

Does MITURF offer insurance coverage?

At this time, MITURF does not provide Space Partners insurance coverage.

How do I file a report on a customer?

To file a report on a customer send us an email at partnersupport@miturf.com and provide us with their name. We’ll be in touch thereafter.

DOES MITURF HAVE ANY TUTORIAL MATERIAL?

MITURF is happy to provide a series of training videos to help you and your staff get acquainted with the platform. We offer a variety of tutorial videos ranging from how to approve/decline booking requests, managing your calendars and more. To access these videos, log into your partner account, navigate to your main menu and click on “Help & Support”.

How do I rent a space on MITURF?

Search, browse, discover

Easily discover and search sporting & recreational spaces fit for your activity. These include private and public spaces. Be sure to know when you need it, what you plan on doing, and how many people you need the space to accommodate

Feeling committed? Make a Booking Request.

Found something you’d like to book and feeling committed? Send a booking request along with your payment. When your booking request is accepted, payment will be safely processed, calendars will be blocked for you (to avoid double bookings) and the space is yours! You’ll get notified and we’ll help you get access to the space as smoothly as possible. If the venue declines, you won’t get charged.

Not really sure? Send an Inquiry.

Not really sure you’d like to book? Send an inquiry and as soon as the venue accepts, you get to decide to book by providing the required payment. No payment up front is required. If your inquiry is accepted, you get to decide if you’d like to book the space by submitting a payment.

If you no longer want it, simply cancel it or let it timeout. Either way, we’ll notify you when the venue accepts. It’s a risk free way to book.

Show up

On the day of your confirmed booking, simple show up on time and enjoy the space. A venue may require you to sign additional waivers and have a valid photo ID to check-in to your rental. Make sure you don’t violate the agreed upon terms doing activities or holding an event not agreed by the venue. If you’re bringing more people that what was accepted, you may be restricted from using the space. Be sure to clear changes with the venue to avoid disappointment.

Cancellation Policy

What’s the cancellation policy?

If you have a confirmed booking and you decide to cancel, it gets much more difficult for a venue or space provider to re-sell the space as the date and time draw closer to the booking time. The venue is left with the burden, after they blocked off time for your confirmed booking.

We understand that things happen and cancellations are a part of life. After obtaining feedback from the MITURF community, we have established the cancellation policy:

  • Cancellations made MORE THAN 48 HOURS before a confirmed rental time
    • You must cancel more than 48 hours before the start time of the confirmed booking in order to get a full refund for the amount paid for the booking (refund includes the service fee, liability insurance coverage and any supervision fees if they are applicable). Refunds are processed in the same payment method that the original payment was made.
    • Example: It’s Saturday morning and you book a basketball court for the following Saturday. You pay for the rental, supervision fees, pay for liability insurance and supervision fees. You decide to cancel that upcoming Tuesday because you were unable to have enough number of players to commit. You will get a 100% refund of the amount paid to book.
  • Venue-Driven Cancellations
    • If a venue cancels at any point before the confirmed booked time, you get 100% refund of all fees.
    • Example: You book a space, but the owner at the venue cancels the booking for an important emergency repair. You’ll get all your money back.
  • Cancellations made LESS THAN 48 HOURS before a confirmed rental time
    • These are considered last-minute cancellations. All the fees paid are non-refundable.
    • Example: It’s Saturday morning when you book for the next day (Sunday) at 7pm. You decide to cancel Saturday night. You’ve violated the cancellation policy and you’ll be charged the full amount that was paid.

Why is the cancellation policy the same for everyone?

We decided to standardize the cancellation policy so it’s easy to understand and everybody plays by the same rules. Having different cancellation policies that differs by venues makes it confusing.

DO I GET CHARGED FOR CANCELLING AN INQUIRY?

A submitted inquiry is not yet a confirmed booking. Therefore, you won’t be charged.

DO I GET CHARGED FOR CANCELLING A BOOKING REQUEST NOT YET ACCEPTED BY THE VENUE?

You won’t get charged. The venue did not grant you a confirmed booking yet.

Liability Insurance

WHAT ARE LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE FEES?

Some venues either expect you to prove you have your covered by your own insurance and some offer the option to purchase coverage from them. Some venues also make you sign a waiver to cover themselves from liability. Liability insurance coverage fees is charged as an addition to the actual rental fees so that the venue is able to cover you and your guests during the duration of the booking in case of injuries or other similar situations occur. These fees are charged at the discretion of the venue and not by MITURF. MITURF has no involvement other than be the service to communicate liability coverage fee requirements from the venue. MITURF is not an insurance provider.

I BOOKED A SPACE, AM I COVERED BY THIS INSURANCE?

If you chose to purchase insurance, then you will be covered. If you didn’t you may be asked to provide proof of insurance by the venue before using the space. If you’d like to confirmed if you’re covered, check the booking confirmation sent to you to see if you’re covered.

DOES MITURF OFFER LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE?

Since MITURF does not have control over people’s behaviours when they undertake in an activity, MITURF does not offer liability insurance. Renting members and their guests are advised to practice common sense and conduct themselves in an appropriate and safe manner that does not pose a harm to you, your guests or the community.

How do I file a report on a venue?

Login as a Member, visit the venue’s profile or their associated listing you’d like to report and click on on the report venue area. You’ll have to indicate a reason for reporting. It will get sent to us and we’ll investigate afterwards.
